OUR APPROACH & PROGRAM

Learning that grows out of trust, curiosity, and play

Philosophy

Children learn best in an environment that enables them to feel safe, secure and seen. I believe in modeling mutual respect, where children are free to express their creativity and share ideas. Everyone takes responsibility for their actions as we practice empathy and self-control, working as a team to accomplish goals.

Once a foundation of trust is in place, children can easily learn from their teachers and each other. Academic learning happens through book reading, discussions, exploration and experimentation. Social learning happens as children interact with one another, experience conflict and repair, and seek guidance as needed — always resolving conflict with kindness, respect and generosity.

Curriculum & Daily Rhythm

Daily reading & monthly themes

Several books are read together every day — some tied to our monthly theme, many simply chosen by the children. We use Scholastic's "My Big World," with two themes each month (from nocturnal animals to friendship to how things grow) along with flyers and simple worksheet activities as a starting point for curiosity and discussion.

Character over bookwork

Most learning happens through play: cooking activities, messy play (water table, mud kitchen, playdough), art, and building with blocks and open-ended materials that encourage collaboration and problem-solving. True learning happens when children are free to fail and try again without judgement.

Full-day, year-round care

Preschool learning is more about positive social interaction and character building than academic bookwork - developing real skills, writing, math, manners, and independence along the way

Hands-on exploration

Ages 2–5*, with only 6 children enrolled at a time so each child gets focused attention each day, every day of the year..

*Children under 3 considered individually based on developmental readiness, assessed at interview
